Special Olympics is a world-wide program providing sports training and competition for
people with an intellectual disability. Originated in the early 1960's, the Special Olympics
movement is now active in over 160 countries with more than 2,000,000 athletes
participating. In Canada, over 32,000 athletes participate in training and competition
organized by 12 Provincial and Territorial chapters. The mission of Special Olympics Canada
is to ensure that a full continuum of sport opportunities is available to people with an
intellectual disability. SOO is the largest program in Canada and considered to be amongst
the “top” programs in the world. From volunteer empowerment to financial accountability,
SOO is recognized as a well managed, progressive program. Special Olympics Ontario is BSH
principle charity and, as such, can work with our corporate partners to extend "value" and
recognition beyond the event. Ask for more details!
